Arthritis is a medical term used to describe joint or joint pain, swelling, or stiffness. It is a common disorder that can cause pain and inflammation, making it difficult to move or stay active. Arthritis is not a condition; there are several different types, the most common of which are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
The most common signs and symptoms of arthritis include joints. Depending on the type of arthritis, signs and symptoms may include:
- Reduction of range of motion
What Causes Arthritis?
Different types of arthritis have different causes. For example, gout is caused by an excess of uric acid in the body. But the exact cause of other types of arthritis is unknown. You can develop arthritis if you:
- They have a family history of arthritis.
- Get a job or play a sport that puts a lot of strain on your joints.
- Do you have certain autoimmune diseases or viral infections?
Psoriatic Arthritis vs. Rheumatoid Arthritis
Both rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and psoriatic arthritis (PsA) are conditions that damage your joints, causing swelling, stiffness, and pain. Both are autoimmune diseases, which means that your immune system mistakenly attacks healthy parts of your body. They can also damage organs such as the skin, eyes and blood vessels.
But RA և PsA differ in key respects. You will probably have this or that condition, but not both. The same drugs tend to work on both RA and PsA.
Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA) is a chronic, inflammatory disease of the joints where tendons և ligaments attach to bone. Most people develop these red spots on the skin’s silvery scales years before the disease was diagnosed. However, in some people, the joint problem starts before the skin spots appear or at the same time.
Symptoms of PsA:
PsA can develop slowly, with mild symptoms, or it can develop rapidly և severely. Some people may develop PsA in the joint after an injury. Development may be related to genetics. Scientists estimate that at least 10 percent of the general population inherits one or more genes that predispose them to psoriasis.
Common symptoms include:
- Swollen joints
- Swelling of the toes
- Back and shoulder pain
- Enthesitis (inflammation where the muscle joins the bone)
- Stiff joints
- Nail drilling
- Chest և rib pain
RH mainly attacks the joints, usually many joints at once. RH usually affects the joints of the hands, wrists, and knees. In the case of joints with RH, the mucous membrane of the joint becomes inflamed, causing damage to the joint tissue. This tissue damage can cause prolonged or chronic pain, instability (imbalance), deformity (wrong shape).
Symptoms of RA
Signs and symptoms of RA include:
- Pain or soreness in more than one joint
- Rigidity of more than one joint
- Tenderness of more than one joint և Swelling
- The same symptoms on both sides of the body (for example, in both hands or on both knees)
- Weight loss
- Fatigue or tiredness?
