The best food to try when going to Sicily

Written by

Each region of Italy boasts its own unique cuisine that sets it apart from other regions, and Cecilio is no exception. While there, you may be surprised with some of the popular dishes on the Mediterranean island. It is not uncommon to find gelato in breakfast broccoli, raisins mixed with spaghetti, and couscous on the menu. You’ll find plenty of healthy, vegan-filled delicacies, and you won’t be able to come here without a sample of the most famous Sicilian dessert: canola. Some of the food here is a must try when you visit the island.

Coponata

Caponata is a classic Sicilian antipasto dish found almost everywhere. The sweet, sour and tangy mixture of fried eggplant, tomato, caper and vinegar is usually served at room temperature. This is a particularly great option if you are a vegetarian or non-vegetarian, or even if you are simply health conscious.
