So why should you stretch out on a regular basis?
Strengthen the connective tissue
Between each joint in the body, there is the connective tissue that holds it together. Over time, it may become unusable. Stretching prevents that to some degree. By using those muscles that surround the joints and stretch them well, you will strengthen the connective tissue in the joints. In addition to this, increasing the flexibility through stretching will also improve the health of the joints.
Improve range of motion
When you don’t stretch your muscles, they tend to stay constricted. This can prevent them from using their full capacity. By using your muscles and stretching them after a workout, you will be able to use the same muscles towards a greater range of motion.
It is common to have muscle imbalances. This problem can often lead to a person having a bad posture. One study found that a combination of strength training and stretching specific muscle groups can encourage proper alignment in the spine. Of course, this can lead to a better overall posture.
Improve blood flow
Exercise causes the body to pump blood faster to the heart, causing it to beat faster. Stretching allows the body to cool down and helps the heartbeat return to normal. What it does is cause the blood flow to the muscles to return to normal.
