When you are pregnant, you have to be doubly careful about what you eat. In fact, since the food eaten by the mother is transmitted directly to the baby through the umbilical cord, this can have an effect (positive or negative) on our baby. In this sense, there are foods that we must eat when we are pregnant to ensure the well-being of the child, as well as the mother. But what are they?
Fruits and vegetables
As we all know, fruits and vegetables are the ultimate healthy food. Whether you are pregnant or not, taking it will always contribute to your health. Therefore, during pregnancy, eating fruits and vegetables can provide your baby with all the nutritional support he needs to grow and become healthy.
Fruits and vegetables, in particular, are rich in fiber, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. This will then allow you to refuel you and your baby. These ingredients are most effective when you eat fresh fruits and vegetables. For this you can, for example, prepare vegetable appetizers, fruit snacks and vegetable soup for dinner.
Milk and dairy products
This category of food is also important because it ensures the development of the fetus. In fact, milk and dairy products are rich in calcium – a nutrient that a child’s skeleton needs to develop properly. Moreover, according to studies, the fact that you drink 150 ml of milk per day can increase the size of the child in adulthood.
To follow this advice literally, the mother should consume three to four dairy products per day and a glass of milk per day. However, you must be careful not to eat cheese with a floral or soft crust. It can be harmful to a child’s health if it is not cooked properly.
Cocoa and nuts
Nuts and cocoa are foods rich in magnesium. However, the latter is known to be essential for embryonic cell proliferation. In fact, magnesium acts directly on the nerve cells, heart and muscles of the baby. Therefore, when a woman is pregnant, she will need to take in more magnesium.
During pregnancy, a woman should consume around 400 mg of magnesium per day. It will then be necessary to give preference to all foods rich in magnesium including cocoa, nuts, dark chocolate, green vegetables, almonds, lentils, etc. In addition, whole grains are also known to be high in magnesium. So pregnant women can consume it freely.
